Abstract

The article is devoted to comprehensive analysis of demonic personification of human
disease- fever in folk imaginations of Ukrainians.Authors examine hobitat locations-«origin» of
etymology designator,etymology of names,etiology,appearance,classification,hierarchy
etc.,which were inherent to folk beliefs of Ukrainians in 19th-first half of 20th century.At the
same time research draws a parallel between fevers and forest female characters demonologymermaids.Material is taking into account Eastern European context of mithological tradition of
this character formation.
